My name is Charlie
Grimes, and I would consider myself a man of many interests. Nine days into the
relatively short summer, I took off alone from the homey Lexington airport and
ventured into the unknown. Through an organization called Moondance Adventures,
I met a group of 11 strangers and spent 3 weeks traveling through California.
This trip included everything from backpacking 30 miles through the vast
forests of Yosemite to surfing in Half Moon Bay, San Francisco. I can say with
confidence that this was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and clearly
the greatest collective moment of my summer. My academic goals include
maintaining strong grades throughout the year, as well as preparing myself for
the SAT and ACT. Despite having high academic goals, I would still like to have
fun and make junior year memorable. If I could have any superpower, I would
like to have total control of time (pause, rewind, etc.).
In addition
to loving the outdoors, I have an undying love for TV, movies, and music. Rarely
is there a time where I am not in the process of binge-watching a show. My
favorite shows of all time include The Sopranos, The Wire, The Office, and The
Simpsons. I am constantly in search of new movies and music as well. Lastly, I
play lacrosse for Henry Clay, and also enjoy playing Frisbee with friends outside
of school.
