Considering I feel confident that I passed the AP Lang and Comp exam, I have very little to complain about for this class. I felt that the constant reinforcement of the skills needed for the multiple choice section and essays section throughout the year was a very effective strategy. It helped me track my progression and feel more confident as a whole going into the exam. Class discussion of rhetorical analyses, synthesis essays, etc. was also very effective in my eyes, as it developed a wide range of perspectives on essays that ultimately helped me improve mine throughout the year. I also greatly enjoyed socratic seminars, in spite of the behemoth responses that were required for each of the 5 questions we had to prepare. Reading texts like Orwell were very informative and helpful in furthering my writing ability, and were interesting to discuss in class. On top of this, you, as the teacher, did not set strict guidelines for what the conversation had to be about at every moment, which I thought was awesome and ultimately engaged people a lot more.
Despite these great strategies, if we could have done a kind of crash course review of all of the essays and how to attack them right before the AP exam, I feel that it would've been very beneficial to all students. Rather than reviewing and refreshing all of the information and tactics that we had learned regarding the essays, the preparation for the exam sort of just fizzled out at the end. Once again, this is very specific and really not all that important, but it is one of the only flaws I perceived in the class.
Lastly, I would just like to thank you, Mr. Logsdon, for creating a fun atmosphere in your class that I always looked forward to coming into. I hope our academy class has not scarred you after our obscene comments and multiple GroupMe additions.
