Assighment 10 - Derrick Thomas
I’m
going to do two options, one of my fears is a zombie attack and I have stayed
up many a nights coming up with a survival plan but it can only be implemented with
assistance from the US government. Depending on the location of the initial out
break and the speed of the contagion my initial plan (developed in 5th
grade) was to essentially turn our nation’s capital of Washington D.C. into a
fortress/refuge. Preferably construction of a form of sturdy barricade (preferably
a large city wall) but if not, construction should begin as soon as possible until
a real protective barrier is in place all essential government personnel should
be relocated to the most secure place as possible, an underground bunker would
be nice, then power to the city should be turned off and civilians should be silenced
(knockout gas throughout the city would be “humane”), as not to draw to much
attention, important buildings such as hospitals and military bases should be equipped
with backup generators. All military personnel should be relocated (and given
silencers for all weapons) to D.C. for orders. Most military will be used for
protection and guarding borders. While small teams would be sent around the
world to gather leading scientists in biology, chemistry, and agriculture, and
other useful fields. The teams would also gather necessary supplies for the
city. As D.C. becomes more secure refugees would be allowed in and all working broadcasting
stations would be continually be relaying a message to inform survivors of safety.
As time progresses assuming things go well enough squads would be sent state to
state to establish colonies/refugee camps in abandoned prisons or military
bases as they often provide the most safety. Throughout this time our
wonderfully democratic governmental system would be forced to switch to a small
autocracy to ensure a faster reaction time for our government. If no cure can
be found before the cities our inevitable over run then all hope is lost and we
must look forward to the sweet pang of death to come and deliver us from this nightmarish
hell
