Turkeys Can't Fly - Assignment 14 - Jacob Ferguson
My Thanksgiving is different almost every year. It usually ends being some combination of
family, food, and someone else’s house.
We almost never host Thanksgiving, and it often alternates which side of
the family we celebrate with, but my family is still almost always involved in
the cooking process. Our food is pretty
typical: turkey, stuffing, ham, sweet potatoes, rolls, mashed potatoes, corn
pudding, deviled eggs, and (always) derby pie.
But we use many of the same great recipes each year. I really enjoy the holiday because of the
great food, and the opportunity to spend so much time with family, something
that sadly doesn’t happen much because of all of our busy schedules. My best Thanksgiving memories are from
spending the holiday out at my Grandparent’s house in the country, where we sat
out by a fire watching football. I also
will always remember rummaging around for interesting antiques in their house,
many which I have gotten to keep.
