Assignment 12: Corey McMullin
Walter was a lawn gnome, but not just any ordinary lawn gnome. Walter was magical; he was alive. He spent most of his days standing still, worrying about being caught. His brother, Geoff, was discovered by a human as he was taking a dip in the pool. Let’s just say it didn’t turn out well for Geoff. One day however, Walter noticed that those weird little machines weren’t whirring across the black rock. The short humans weren’t playing in the yard. This concerned Walter, not because he missed them, but because he just wasn’t that good with change. He meandered around the neighborhood, looking for any sign of a human. He eventually ran into another gnome. This wasn’t a magical gnome, but Walter didn’t care. He named his new pal Alex. Walter loved Alex; they were the best of friends. Walter was having the time of his life. It had been a long time since Walter had been with Geoff. He would take whatever friend he could possibly get. Alex, however, was not a very good friend. He never laughed at Walter’s jokes, or offered to share his toys with Walter. It had been many days since Walter had seen a human, and Alex was driving him crazy. Walter wandered off towards his lawn. As he crossed the black rock, he finally found a human, as their machine whirred over him, shattering Walter into 23 individual pieces.
