Assignment 9: Corey McMullin

I believe that there is a time for war. Without it, we would all be serving tyrants such as Adolf Hitler or dead. America would not even be a country, since without war, we would never have earned our freedom. War is necessary, but not all wars are necessary. We require war to overthrow oppressive regimes that seek to benefit themselves, while the people slave under their rule. Of course, war would no longer be necessary if conflicts were always easily solved through diplomacy, or never even existed. But that will never happen since one of humanity’s most basic skills is butting heads. It is rare for us to admit our wrongs, and accept a peaceful resolution that may not be in our favor. It is also difficult for us to not seek revenge, or hold prejudices. Americans went into World War II hoping to fight against those darn communists, because we hated them.
