Assignment 7: Corey McMullin

On October 9, 1944, Winston Churchill went to Russia to speak with Stalin about the Red Army. The Red Army had recently invaded nearly half of Poland. Churchill, the Prime Minister of Britain, knew that the Russian Red Army would become even stronger if they were able to control all of Poland, with more land, comes more resources and power. Russia would become even stronger, able to conquer all of Europe if no one was to challenge Stalin’s power.  England was no longer a world power, while Russia remained one of the major two, alongside America. Churchill perhaps hoped to keep the final European world power as a benign world power. Churchill also discussed topics such as the boundaries of Poland, and the percentage of control that England and Russia would each have in various European countries. In Churchill’s mind, this conversation with the Soviet Union’s leader saved Greece from becoming a communist country. Mr.Pope would be so proud.
