Prompt 1: Why do we like the music that we like? Is it because we can deeply relate to it, were exposed to it when we were younger, like it because it is mainstream, or just simply like it?
Prompt 2: Throughout your life you are influenced by many factors: family, school, politics, social media, TV, the community, experiences, etc. What do you believe is your own virtue or thought? Something that you came into realization on your own outside of the influences of others.
Prompt 3: Do you believe that intrinsic or extrinsic motivation has a bigger influence? Why? Answering honestly, what is it for you?
Response to prompt 3: Personally, I think that people are more motivated by outside influences. After all you see it everywhere - good grades in exchange for hard work, higher salaries for more qualified work, parents offering money for completing chores. Currently, it is a world of "Well, what do I get in return for doing this?" When time are resources are limited, it is understandable. However, I believe that when intrinsically motivated, one can feel a more true sense of accomplishment. I am not discrediting people who are extrinsically motivated because hey, at least you're motivated to do something! And I too am driven by external factors at times. I would like to believe that majority of the time I am more intrinsically motivated; this might be due to the fact that I was raised where I was not really expecting a reward or a "pay" for things that I should have been doing any ways. It is what motivates me to do things when no one is watching, going the "extra (unnecessary at times) mile". At time I am asked why I do some things and I simply can't give an answer but I just want to.
