"Even today, The Holocaust is hard to grasp. The cruelty was so profound; the scale so large; the camps spread so far and wide." -Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the UN
This picture shows a Nazi soldier getting ready to execute a mother holding her child. The event taking place in this picture shows how ruthless the Nazis were. The Holocaust encompassed around 8 million jewish deaths. Not to mention the 60 million people who died fighting because of the wishes of one insane man. That was 2.5% of the worlds population. Imagine if 3 out of every 100 people you knew died. Thats ridiculous. Hitler brainwashed thousands of people to join the Nazi party and ultimately kill children just like the one being held by their mother in this picture. The mother in this picture looks like she is afraid, and it is hard to tell what the German soldier is feeling. It could be sympathy, it could be hatred, it could be regret, or it could even be fear as well. There is no way of knowing why he is doing what he is doing, but we do know it is horrific.
