(iWrite)The Future of Technology: Harrison I.

Technology today has evolved into to something far beyond what any 19th century inventor or tinkerer could have ever dreamed of. In our modern age we have a technological device or procedure to solve almost any problem, assist anybody with any task, and allow us to learn things about the universe that before were shrouded in mere speculation. The evolution of technology has progressed so quickly, that the amount of time since the first electronic circuit to today is less than a blink in the eyes of the universe, and it doesn't show signs of slowing down. As ever increasing amounts of technology is continuously woven into our society, we see that people are becoming more and more reliant upon it to carry out their lives. Even more so than today, the future holds a bond between technology and humans that will become almost unbreakable. This raises both optimism and apprehension for the next decade. While some may think it's good that advancements in technology will allow us to live happier and easier lives than ever before, the possible misuse of those advancements, is also a reason to be worried as well. We always have to remember that even if we continue to create new technology that is more sophisticated and intelligent, we are still the people that choose how to use it, and we all know human tendency can never be "fixed" or "updated". We are already starting to see traces of that today, with people misusing this new technology to mount cyber attacks, and build new weapons of mass destruction to dangle over the heads of others. These actions will only get worse and some consider it only a matter of time before humans use technology to destroy themselves. This would not be the first time, but with future advancements in technology, it would be the last. History has a tendency to repeat itself, and humans never seem to learn the true consequences for their actions. The only thing that is certain is that we are headed towards an age of technology, there is no doubt about that. It's up to us to decide whether we use that technology for the prosperity and good of the world, or to destroy it.
