My life would be tremendously different if I were born 20 years earlier. Though many believe technology has given more freedom to teens, I feel that it limits our freedom. My mother is constantly is checking everything that is going on in my life via technology. She knows my grades before I do, she can look at my texts, and she can look at where I am at all times via "Find My iPhone." Because of this I have little privacy in my life, and I feel that the right to privacy is a part of freedom. My mother constantly tells me stories about her years of high school. Whenever she when out with friends she would just tell her mother she was going out for the night, and she would return by curfew. She never had to play "20 Questions" with her mother. She seemed to have unlimited freedom. There is no question in my mind that if I were born May 2, 1978 I would have much more freedom.
I think that if I didn't have the access to the technology I do now I would form much healthier relationships. Texting I feel creates a barrier. It is much easier to say something in a short or in some cases incredibly long text than to say it in person. If I were forced to only communicate over the phone and face to face I would build better relationships. This is why I would prefer to be born earlier. I would have had more freedom and much healthier relationships.
