Come to the Dark Side, Luke

No. There is no black or white, good or bad, such lines are not clear cut. A lot of this is based on perspective, although there are universal beliefs on what is considered to be evil behavior (i.e. manipulation, stealing, murder, etc.). What one considers acceptable, the other may consider it absolutely treacherous. This reminds me of a recent encounter I had with a customer while at work over the summer.

"I don't mean to bother you, but let me ask you this: if you were to die today will you find yourself in heaven or hell?"
"I don't believe that I have sinned to the point where I cannot be forgiven."
"What if you sinned once and that caused your downfall to hell in the afterlife?"
"Well, I would be seeing a lot of people there with me then."

He proceeded to tell me that I need a savior.

My first thoughts were that it was a strange thing to be asked (then I considered that I do work at a place that is closely affiliated with Christianity). But then I got to thinking: if we truly just view things simply as good and bad, then we are all "sinners". We all have done something that is not always considered to be "right" - whether it ranges from a white lie to spare someone's feelings to stealing, we human beings are not perfect  beings.

I do believe that majority of people strive to do good and that we do at times fail to do so. A few mistakes should not define a person as a whole. The two opposing forces coexist because without one, there is not the other. This coexistence therefore creates a gray, muddled area which inevitably causes many of the conflicts in the world today.
