Assignement 12: Brave Little Toaster- Samantha McGehee
Poor little Roger the Remote. He never gets a break. Big people have no respect. We are constantly pushing his buttons. We toss him from person to person and argue over who gets him. My father carries him around in his pocket, just to keep Roger from the loving hands of the other women in the house. We yell at Roger when he doesn't work or switches channels too fast. He can never do anything right. But when we aren't home to bother Roger, he has time to himself. He can wonder around the house and flirt with the D.V.D remote, who is always wearing her little black dress. He also is able to watch whatever pleases his little battery powered heart. If he wants to watch Say Yes to the Dress, he can without judgment. But this peace doesn't last long. By 4:30, inconsiderate humans come waltzing in ready to irritate Roger. Roger tries to hide from them. He hides in the couch cushions, underneath the chair, in between the wall and the table. But somehow the desperate humans always find him and scold him for disappearing.
