Assignment 10 - Jack Phillips

Zombies have attacked. I have a three step plan, to survive with a colony of 20-50 people of my choosing. Step one, gather supplies. This is everybody's step one, and for good reason, without supplies, everyone dies. But there are two keys, gasoline and avoiding chain stores (except Costco). Go directly to the manufacturer. Everyone else will be busy looting walmart and sams club, but nobody will think to go straight to the distributer. All of these chains have large warehouses in remote locations that store massive quantaties of their product. If you find one of these, you are set. Step two travel. After we have gathered supplies, I will choose 20-50 people that are fit for survival and I can tolerate. First stop, my farm. Many people will be hopeless and stuck once they run out of gas, but not me. We will gather as many of the horses from my farm in KY (probably around 150 horses) and prepare to move north. Horses will be a huge asset as they can outrun any kind of zombie, and don't require gas. This is the most dangerous part of the journey. We will begin the trek north with our herd of horses, living off the supplies we got in step one. Our target is my farm in Ohio. Previously 1000 acres of horse farm, now turned into corn farming, a small airfield, and hunting reserve. This farm is ideally located as it is about 30 miles from Columbus, meaning it is far enough away from the urban center to be overrun, yet close enough to have supply runs. It is completely fenced in, so the horses can roam freely and live off the natural grasses from the hunting reserve. The river and lakes provide a steady source of fish for the humans, and the corn and wheat farming provide a steady food source. There are also three houses each with between 6 and 8 bedrooms, and ample timber to build more houses. The hard part is getting there with a herd of horses. The main road to Columbus goes through Cincinnati, which is most likely going to be overrun. My plan is to send a small group into Cincinnati to comandeer a barge that we will float several miles down river, before loading up the horses and crossing into Ohio. After that it is easy. The farm already has an arsenal of about 40 guns for hunting, and has every amenity needed to make it the ideal location for surviving a zombie apocalypse.
