assignment 9: Vincent Pisacano

Many people view war as a bad thing no matter what the reason for going to war is. Even if it is because of violence, how is it just to act by using violence? they have a point, and i can see where they are coming from. but me, i think war is appropriate if it is for the right reason. if you find out that a country has nuclear weapons and that country plans to use them, it makes sense to go to war. kill a thousand to save a million would be the reasoning behind this. so with this being said, there are some instances where war is morally acceptable. and also there are some times where a country is obligated to go to war. if the united states did nothing in retaliation to the 9/11 attacks, for example, that tell terrorist groups and other countries who aren't too fond of us that you can attack us and we will not retaliate. so in that situation, maybe war wouldnt be the best idea, but some sort of military action was necessary.
