This picture is of the bombing of Hiroshima that ended the second world war. This represented a change in the world with the rise of a superpower, and the rest of the world collapsed. At the end of the second world war most of Europe, Japan, and Eastern Europe were in shambles. Almost all of the infrastructure was destroyed, a third the population was dead, and everyone needed products to rebuild.
The United States was there to meet these needs, and was the only one with the means to do so because it was isolated from all combat. They still had the factories and the vehicles that would be needed for international trade. This allowed the United States to grow into an economic superpower, by loaning money to foreign countries and having a monopoly on all the international markets.
This picture represents this because the bomb destroyed the city of Hiroshima in Japan. This destroyed factories and killed many people, which was very similar to wjat had happened in the rest of the world, except the United States. It also represents the rise to power of the United States. It does this by showing the pure military power that the US had, by having such a powerful weapon, and the business means, because it takes a lot to build such a weapon, and the economic power, because they had the money to fund such a massive project.
