Assignment 14: Jack Phillips
My holidays are always a bit unorthodox. We have a lot of pretty unique traditions, and most people are really confused by them. For instance, we don't celebrate Christmas on Christmas day. We celebrate Festivus. I am not kidding. My family actually has a Festivus celebration. For Thanksgiving we do have the traditional turkey meal, where we stuff ourselves and then all take naps, its the day after that gets kind of weird. All thirty of us get a pheasant. Its a bird kind of like a chicken, but it lives wild in Ohio, and can actually fly. We take these birds, go out into the fields, make them dizzy so they don't immediately fly away, and head back to the house. We have lunch and wait a couple hours before we all grab shotguns, line up side by side and march through the fields like aircraft in formation, We let the dogs go out into the field to try and flush out the birds up. Its actually a lot of fun, and we get about a third of the birds we put out, and the other two thirds we leave to help repopulate the area with more pheasants.
